Pattern Translation
Translate image structure into rhythm, pitch and texture. Compare edge detail, vertical brightness and repetition, or return to the original brightness mapping.
Try an image, adjust the settings and download your sound. Uploaded previews stay in this browser; library, generated and gallery sources use public links. Guest experiments are not saved. Sign in for saved studies, collections and publishing.
Each translation interprets a 64 × 64 image sample over 8 seconds. Download your sound before leaving.
How this mapping works
Image structure v1: brightness distribution selects pitch, contrast shapes attack, and edges add timbral brightness. Repeated vertical spacing adds pulses; changes between columns shift their timing. Grid Density sets scan steps, Symmetry Weight blends mirrored features, Repetition Factor changes pulse count and length, and Timing Swing offsets alternating steps. MIDI preserves note timing and velocity, not audio timbre. The 64 × 64 sample still limits visible detail.

Sound character (advanced)
Adds brighter, more complex tones.
Edges shape attack and timbre; vertical brightness shapes pitch; repetition and column changes shape rhythm. The mapping version is saved with your settings.
Duration stretches the image scan and note spacing. Use Audio finishing for channel placement, output gain and loop edge fades.
Higher values raise the pitch range.
Higher values make the sound louder.
Higher values add more sequence steps.
Higher values favor mirrored-column brightness.
Higher values lengthen each note.
Higher values delay alternating steps.
Audio finishing
Edge fading brings both ends to silence without changing duration. It softens the join but may create a rhythmic dip. MIDI and note diagrams describe the original sequence before audio finishing.
